Selecting Golf Equipment: Knowing What to Wear
Playing a full 18-hole round of golf is a time commitment of between four and five hours in most cases. With that being the case, you want to make sure you are wearing the right clothes so that you can be comfortable for that whole time span. Weather can change dramatically over the course of half a day, so you will want to make sure you are properly attired and well-prepared for everything that could come your way. By just having a few specific items in your wardrobe, you should be able to dress yourself comfortably for the round so you don’t have to think about your clothes and can focus on your game.
Following are four items that you should consider having in your golf wardrobe. Picking up any or all of these will give you more options for a wider-variety of weather conditions.
- Golf shorts. There is nothing quite like playing golf on a warm summer day, so a good pair of golf shorts should be included in every wardrobe. Without this option, you will be forced to play in pants and might be rather warm as the afternoon goes on. Golf shorts don’t have to be expensive, and they come in an incredible number of colors and styles.
- Rain pants. One the other end of the spectrum, having a pair of rain pants in your bag is just as important when the skies cloud up and the rain comes on. The great thing about rain pants is that they can be slipped on over shorts when needed, and taken off when the sun comes back out. Several different golf companies offer quality rain pants, and you may choose to get a matching jacket for days that really get ugly.
- A hat. Whether it is raining or you are playing under a hot sun, having a hat can make you more comfortable on the course. It can keep the sun out of your eye and off your head when the weather is nice, and will serve to help you stay a little bit drier if the conditions take a turn for the worse.
- A belt. Even if you don’t normally wear a belt with your clothes, you might want to consider it for golf purposes. You will be bending and swinging all day long, so a belt can help keep your pants or shorts in place. Also, a belt can help your shirt to stay tucked in while you are twisting through your swings hole after hole.
